Home & School Society
The Home & School Society is Mount Calvary Lutheran’s version of PTA (parent-teacher association). It is a group of parents (or any supporter of our students) that lead the planning for various school family events, assist with fundraising and shower our teachers with support and appreciation throughout the year. This group is always looking for more parents who may be interested in getting involved.

How can I get INVOLVED?
Below are some of the things Home & School lead or help with throughout the year. We discuss specific needs in our quarterly meetings. If you can only do one thing, GREAT! If you’d like to take the lead on something, AWESOME! Please come meet with us to learn more.
SPRING: Christian Education Week – MARCH
- Family breakfasts
- Classroom supervision (30 min so teachers can eat breakfast)
- Grandparents’ Day
- Book fair
SPRING: Teacher Appreciation Week – MAY
- Help us decide on a theme, appreciation gifts, and activities!
SUMMER: Back to School Bash & Church Picnic – AUGUST
- Help us decide on a theme, appreciation gifts, and activities!
FALL: Trunk ‘r Treat & Fall Festival – OCT
- Decorate a trunk
- Prep popcorn bags
- Volunteer for 30-60 min as a greeter, MC, or craft table
- Help set up or clean up
OTHER: Cooking and serving Lenten Dinner, 8th grade graduation celebration, securing fundraisers, and coordinating the Wish Tree for classroom supplies.
Can’t attend something but want to help? We always need help with event supplies or setting up the Sign-Ups. No matter what capacity you have, we need you. Your time and efforts will be appreciated!
What do we LOVE about Home & School?
Being new to Mt Calvary, joining Home & School was a great way to meet others quickly! And I’ve never not had fun volunteering at an event. Always lots of laughs, and the smiles on the kids and staff members’ faces make the efforts worthwhile!
– Erica Smith
Home & School helps me get involved with the school, getting to know parents/staff, and just being a part of things. I can help a little or a lot which helps because every season is different with youth sports! It’s nice knowing faces in the building and seeing that new friend or two at a school event or at dismissal.
– Tina Heinonen
I’ve always felt Home & School is a great way to get to know other parents and make friendships with people you might not have otherwise. I like
– Shara Lebish
time away with other adults, talking about something that interests me (my kids and their education).
